About Us
Glass Fabricators Inc. is built on three generations of dedication to the craft of glass. Our story begins in the late 1970s, when our founder Claude Jones—working under the name Mobile Auto Glass—entered the glass industry with a simple mission: provide reliable, hands-on service to his community. What began as mobile auto glass repair quickly expanded into repair glazing, and he soon recognized that insulated glass units were the future of the industry. With that vision, he laid the foundation for a business built on innovation and craftsmanship.
After college, his daughter Kathleen joined the company and guided its growth for the next 40 years. Her leadership transformed a small family operation into a trusted regional fabricator known for quality, consistency, and strong relationships with glazing contractors.
Today, Glass Fabricators Inc. has evolved into a modernized manufacturing facility equipped to meet the demands of today’s glazing industry. While our technology and capabilities have grown, our values remain rooted in the legacy of hard work, integrity, and customer-first service established over four decades ago.
We are proud to continue this family tradition as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)—honoring our heritage while building toward the future of glass fabrication.
Grant Hewins, President / CEO
Grant joined Glass Fabricators in 2019 following a career in the United States Army, including combat operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and onshore oil and gas exploration. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he brings both technical expertise and leadership experience to the team. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and pursuing backcountry hunting adventures across the western United States.
Matthew Christensen, Sales ManagerÂ
Matthew Christensen has been a valued member of the Glass Fabricators team for 18 years and currently serves as Sales Manager. With deep industry knowledge and long-standing customer relationships, Matthew plays a key role in driving growth and supporting customers across the organization. Outside of work, he enjoys following sports, draws on lessons learned from playing college basketball, and spends his time with his wife and two young children.
Nathan Harbin, Operations Manager
Nathan brings more than 20 years of manufacturing leadership to the organization. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and an MBA from Oklahoma City University, combining formal training with decades of hands-on operational experience.
Throughout his career, Nathan has led teams in high-output, quality-driven environments, helping companies strengthen performance, streamline processes, and build sustainable growth. He is known for a continuous-improvement mindset—constantly seeking better ways to work, learn, and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.
Dan Hewins, Controller
 Dan Hewins joined the Glass Fabricators in 2025 and is managing accounts receivable/payable. Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s in Engineering Management. He spent ten years in the U.S. Army as an Engineer Officer and then worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in facilities construction and contracting. He is excited to finally be back working at the family business. Dan is dedicated to a relentless pursuit of quality products for Glass Fabricator’s customers and to making the best customer experience possible.  He enjoys travelling and seeing family, spending time with his wife and two kids, and taking advantage of all the recreational and hunting opportunities that Iowa has to offer.
Joe Porter, Shop ManagerÂ
Hailing from Pocahontas, Iowa, Joe Porter has been with Glass Fabricators since the very beginning and continues to drive innovation across the organization. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from the University of Northern Iowa and is passionate about relentlessly producing high-end glass and glass products. When he’s not in the shop, you’ll likely find him enjoying a cold malted beverage on his boat with family or slinging dirt at the race track.
